Raildiary provides a software platform for the construction industry that enables teams to record, structure and manage daily site data (site diaries, progress, costs, compliance etc.). Their tools let project and site managers capture information in real time, generate insights (including via AI), align with industry contract standards (e.g. NEC), and improve decision-making, accountability, and profitability on construction projects.
Raildiary's original website was built in-house on a platform only their developers could update. As a fast-growing startup with an evolving product, they needed to regularly refresh messaging and content, but developer time was too valuable to spend on routine updates.
They needed:
I began with a deep-dive discovery session with their marketing team to map page content, user journeys, and goals. To optimise messaging, Gather collaborated with a professional copywriter.
I recommended Webflow, a no-code builder offering design flexibility without developer bottlenecks. The team chose a template covering all required pages, helping keep costs down while still allowing customisation.
Although we started with a template, I adapted layouts, typography, and visual hierarchy to suit their brand and content, ensuring the site communicated clearly and professionally.
To explain the platform’s features, I designed a set of detailed illustrations. Contrary to initial assumptions that simpler visuals would work best, the team opted for high-detail images, reflecting the in-depth data capture their audience values.
The new Raildiary website now:
This freed developer resources for core product work and supported Raildiary’s mission to lead the digital transformation of the construction industry.
